First day into 2011, and I managed to make my first shirt. Even with a hangover. I'm pretty pleased with myself, to be honest. This is something I actually want to wear out of the house.
Technically, it took me three nights to "whip up" this blouse. I decided I was going to be super perfectionist-y when it came to measuring and following directions, instead of trying to rush through it per usual. So I worked on it a couple of hours every night. The yellow fabric I ordered on sale from Sew, Mama, Sew, and I used just a yard of it. The green fabric was actually an old pillowcase of ours.
All I did is follow Sew, Mama, Sew's Spring Ruffle Top tutorial, borrowed from blogger Made By Rae. It turns out, this is a great "fat day" shirt. Plenty big enough. I actually had to do some of the "shaping" it mentions at the end of the tutorial to make it less billowy. Let's see how it holds up in the wash. ;)
P.S. Can you tell I'm ready for winter to be over already? I'm a warm weather girl through and through.

That shirt is awesome! And I love Sew Mama Sew, too. I could get lost on that site for days.
Leah, you have to make it! It's actually really good for maternity, as is, without any shaping! xo
